Chay’s journey into high-performance home building began at 16 in the UK, where he trained under experts in low-energy construction. Driven by a desire to provide a safer and warmer lifestyle for his young family, he relocated to New Zealand in 2007. In 2010, he launched his own construction company, serving the Kapiti and Wellington regions.
Erwin, who started his apprenticeship at just 15, went on to study structural engineering and project management. In Germany, he gained experience in sustainable and Passive House projects before moving to New Zealand in 2005 for more family time and an outdoor lifestyle. With a background in managing large commercial projects, Erwin transitioned to high-performance housing in 2017 and partnered with Chay to help elevate New Zealand's residential building standards.
