Sustainable Thinking

Our high performing homes are the result of precise planning, intentional design and scientific modelling.

Sustainable Thinking

In every eHaus sustainability, innovation and thoughtful design are woven together to create homes built to an unreasonably high performance standard.

The science behind comfort

The science behind a comfier home

Energy efficiency is woven into the fabric of every eHaus using PHPP software. Designed for building homes to a rigorous international standard, the tool allows us to apply similarly high standards of efficiency to the design of your eHaus, determine the most suitable form of the building, and instantly show the impact of design decisions on the building's energy efficiency.

The importance of Design stage modelling

Energy modelling is the most important part of the eHaus design process. It allows us to model the design of your home to accurately predict performance. It can tell us whether one room will be colder than another or whether your home might overheat in summer.

Design stage modelling

Built for a specific climate zone

We design eHaus’ specifically for 19 different climate zones in New Zealand. Why? Because a warm home in Invercargill requires a different level of insulation and ventilation than a home in Kaitaia. Using detailed NIWA data, each zone accounts for factors like the average temperature, altitude, and inland or coastal variations.

The features that make

an eHaus exceptional

Modelled using PHPP

Every eHaus is measured to international standards for energy efficiency and comfort while still on the plans.

Draught Free

eHaus’ are built to stop draughts and prevent air leaks, saving you money and creating a beautiful, quiet space to enjoy.

Superior insulation

Each eHaus is insulated to match your regional climate. With a fully insulated slab and thicker high-performance walls, eHaus are made to keep more heat in.

Thermally efficient joinery

Beautifully engineered with double or triple glazing to reduce heat loss, condensation, draughts and mould.

MINIMAL or zero thermal bridges

An eHaus is designed with either minimal or no thermal bridges – one of the most significant sources of energy loss in any home.

Heat savings

Heat savings

Smart energy modelling helps us to accurately calculate just how much heat energy every eHaus will save compared to a similarly sized standard home, built in the same climate region.
