Floor prep and sweeping views

At Lydia Place, the flooring stage has been all about precision and performance.

To support the James Hardie Secura flooring, our floor joists were spaced closer than standard. This dense fibre cement product was selected for its acoustic properties, essential given the home’s location close to a flight path and it also contributes to airtightness, a key factor in high performance homes.

Once the flooring was laid, we landed the wall frames and brought in Scafit to stand the scaffolding. This gave our team a safe and stable platform to proceed with standing the frames and begin shaping the gable forms and glazed dining link that define the home’s Japandi-inspired architecture.

With the flooring laid, we reached a moment where the design began to come to life. Standing on the completed floor, we now fully appreciate the end views, sweeping across native bush and out toward the Tararua Ranges. It’s a powerful reminder of why this site was chosen and how the home’s layout is designed to frame and celebrate those vistas.

This stage is a turning point where the structure begins to reflect the vision.
