eHaus are New Zealand leaders in PassivHaus design and construction. We offer our clients a complete service, and give them confidence and peace of mind, bringing all their ideas and concepts to life through one seamless process. Our dedicated specialist designHaus team is based out of our central office in Whanganui. The team consists of a total of 11 designers, making designHaus the largest specialist energy efficiency designer team in NZ. Included in this team are are a national network of eHaus appointed designers throughout the country. This combined team ensures we have the unique and specialised skills required to meet the stringent PassivHaus standard.
How does the process work? To begin with, each client is matched to the appropriate designer for their project. The designer takes the design brief, begins the concept design phase and works with the client to complete the design. This is then brought to life through one of our 12 national eHaus builders, who are trained in the specialist construction of the PassivHaus principles.
The designHaus also has specialist engineers in the team who are responsible for the PHPP modelling. This vital part of the PassivHaus design process ensures the house will meet the PassivHaus standard.
The designHaus team is about to be increased by one with the addition of Lena from Austria. Lena has a Bachelor of engineering in Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency and is looking forward to working with eHaus for a period of six months. She is also looking forward to enjoying our snow boarding season and exploring NZ while she is here.

An exciting and beautiful new subdivision called The Rangitahi Project has just been launched in Raglan. This spectacular piece of land, developed by the Peacocke family, sets out to create an incredible new vision for this peninsula.
The idea to bring Rangitahi alive with relaxed, like-minded people aligns with the Raglan community ethos:
“Raglan is filled with people who are inspired by nature. They are vibrant
and energetic, and Raglan should continue to grow that way”.
eHaus were invited to showcase our product at the latest Rangitahi sustainability evening on June 20th. This sold-out event was excellent, and our presentation was well received by those wanting more for their build and an alternative to the standard building code.
The Rangitahi vision for diversity is refreshing. “We are looking for interesting types of buildings, so that the environment is diverse, just like the people of Raglan… We want to attract a range of architecture that respects the natural surroundings, anything from 1-2 bedroom houses to larger family homes...”
Check out the Rangitahi website to learn more about this project Rangitahi - stage two is also in the pipeline.

With the recent sale of the Kapiti expoHaus our Kapiti-based team are soon to relocate into new offices at 887a State Highway 1, Te Horo. We managed to squeeze in one last Information Evening on Thursday before the new owners move in and make themselves at home. If you are in the area feel free to call in to the new offices and talk to the team.
Plus, eHaus Kapiti are reducing their reliance on fossil fuels with the purchase of an EV (Electric Vehicle). It is out and about on the Kapiti Coast roads, have you seen it?
A recent interview with economist Shamubell Eaqub on TVOne Breakfast Show highlighted the opportunity for an improvement in the current standard of new code built homes under Kiwibuild.
Here at eHaus we agree. The positive health impact of better insulation and proper ventilation is too significant to ignore any longer. Shamubell Eaqub says the relatively modest upfront costs are quickly compensated for with savings in lower energy heating costs, not to mention healthier and more comfortable homes. New Zealanders deserve better.
We'd love to know what you think about the Kiwibuild scheme, so follow the link below to view the full interview, and let us in on your thoughts!
