eHaus Euro - Certified Passive House Classic

These clients came to eHaus with clearly-thought through requirements: simplicity without compromise on performance or construction. They wanted a certified Passive House with quality, low maintenance and durable construction. While energy efficiency was important, other performance standards were required. The house needed to be readily secured plus resilient to high winds, storms and earthquakes.
Air quality and environmental considerations were also important with low VOC and natural materials being required.

The clients understood the trade off between size, budget and quality and their instructions to the designer were clear: stay within the budget, shrink the house rather than skimp on quality.

The eHaus design team delivered a Certified Passive House with two bedrooms, an office, two bathrooms, a spacious laundry and a reception area, all within a TFA of 121 m2 plus a double garage.

Design Components

Floor – Fully insulated concrete pad with a U-value of 0.182 W/(m²K)

Wall – ecoBlock ICF wall  U-value of 0.267 W/(m²K)

Roof – Double layer of fibreglass insulation U-value of 0.156 W/(m²K)

Window Joinery Frame – eco Windows wood alu/purnit  Uf value 0.91 W/(m²K)

Glazing – Double Glazed Low E Argon Ug value 1.10 W/(m²K) G Value 61%

Ventilation – Zehnder Comfo Air 350 MHRV

Hot Water – Flat plate automatic drain down Solar Thermal system with 300 Litre storage tank

Heating/Cooling – Electric 1000W Convection heater,  Electric 209W Towel rail heater

Power generation – Solar PV system generating 17 kWh/(m²a)

Ecological features  – Low flow shower units, LED lighting
